Kult Farm is a foodtech startup in Barcelona developing novel plant-based protein ingredients through solid-state fermentation. The company is focused on building scalable and sustainable processes for next-generation protein alternatives.

Role overview

Kult Farm is looking for a highly motivated intern to support the scaling of solid-state fermentation processes for new plant-based protein alternatives. The selected candidate will work closely with the R&D team to translate lab protocols into robust pilot-scale processes and contribute to product and process development.

Key responsibilities

Support experimental planning and execution for solid-state fermentation scaling trials.

Prepare substrates, inocula and fermentation runs following SOPs and good laboratory practices.

Monitor and record process parameters such as temperature, humidity and time.

Assist with sample handling and basic downstream processing.

Contribute to data analysis, reporting and technical documentation.

Requirements

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, or currently enrolled, in a STEM field such as Biotechnology, Food Science, Chemical Engineering, Bioprocess Engineering, Microbiology or related discipline.

English is required.

Strong interest in fermentation, alternative proteins and sustainable food systems.

Preferred qualifications

Experience with fermentation is desirable.

Experience with process scaling is also desirable.

Familiarity with data analysis tools such as Excel, Python or R is a plus.
