Job Title: Data Engineer – Arena Interface (Squad "Data")

Location: Düsseldorf, Germany (Remote)

Contract: 6months

1. Job Summary – highlight project details / what is exciting about the role:

This role sits within the Squad "Data" and covers the data interface to Arena, ensuring reliable data extraction, transformation and exchange between Arena and downstream systems. Working closely with the Squad and business stakeholders, the consultant will use SQL and, where required, Talend to build, maintain and troubleshoot this interface. This is an exciting opportunity to take direct ownership of a critical data interface within a fast-moving, cross-functional data squad.

2. Key Responsibilities – list what the person will be doing on a day-to-day basis:

Act as the data specialist for the Arena interface within the Squad "Data".

Build, maintain and troubleshoot SQL queries and scripts to extract, transform and validate data to/from Arena.

Support and maintain Talend ETL jobs related to the Arena interface, where required.

Monitor data flows, identify and resolve data quality issues, and ensure reliable, timely data delivery.

Collaborate with Squad members, data architects and business stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions.

Document data flows, mappings and technical solutions related to the Arena interface.

Support testing, validation and deployment of changes to the Arena data interface.

Contribute to continuous improvement of data processes within the Squad.

3. Job Requirements

Proven experience as a Data Engineer, Data/ETL Developer or similar role.

Hands-on experience working with the Arena platform/interface, or comparable enterprise source systems.

Strong SQL experience, including writing and optimizing complex queries and validating data.

Experience with Talend, or a similar ETL tool, is an advantage.

Experience working in Agile squads / cross-functional teams.

Essential Skills:

Strong SQL skills (query writing, data modelling, performance optimization).

Working knowledge of the Arena platform, or comparable enterprise systems, and their data structures.

Good understanding of data integration and ETL concepts.

Analytical, structured problem-solving approach and attention to data quality.

German language proficiency at C1 level; good working knowledge of English.

Nice to Have Skills:

Practical experience with Talend for building and maintaining ETL jobs.

Exposure to data warehousing concepts and data quality frameworks.

Familiarity with Agile/Scrum ways of working.

Travel required: Occasional travel within Germany, if required by the project (to be confirmed).
