From 01.11.2026 onwards.

What you will be doing here

At MAGNOTHERM, we are developing a revolutionary refrigeration technology that has the potential to eliminate up to 30% of energy demand and 100% of direct greenhouse gas emissions in the cooling industry. Our vision is to provide the cleanest and most sophisticated cooling solutions to reduce climate impact and costs. Founded in 2019, our deep tech company is a spin-off of the Technical University of Darmstadt.

We are looking for a Junior Sales Engineer to join our growing Go-To-Market team. Reporting to our GTM Lead, you will own technical pre-sales support, solution proposals, and our CRM data, building a working knowledge of magnetocaloric cooling technology along the way.

What you'll own
  • Customer management & field engagement. Identify and build relationships with new customers. Attend meetings, site visits, technical presentations and solution discussions alongside senior team members. Support commissioning, start-up and handover for pilot and early customer installations.
  • Technical sales support. Understand customer requirements and help shape technical solutions based on our technology that fit their needs while aligning with our commercial goals. Support pre- and post-sales activities as a conduit between the customer and MAGNOTHERM technical team.
  • Proposals & documentation. Prepare technical proposals, drawings, calculations and supporting documentation for customer opportunities, working from standard configurations toward tailored solutions.
  • CRM & market insight. Maintain opportunity and customer records in our CRM (HubSpot), tracking activities and deal progress. Monitor market trends, competitor activity and customer feedback to help inform GTM strategy and product development.
  • Coordination & knowledge. Support project planning, equipment selection, delivery and implementation scheduling in coordination with our technical  teams. Build product knowledge to support training for customers, partners and GTM colleagues. Travel occasionally within Europe to support customer visits, trade fairs and site assessments.
What you would ideally bring to the table

Must-have skills & experience

  • A Bachelor's degree in engineering, a technical discipline, business, or a comparable field (or equivalent experience).
  • Strong technical aptitude and the ability to translate customer requirements into practical solutions.
  • Strong, confident communicator with both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Structured, self-driven, and dependable — comfortable owning tasks without heavy oversight.
  • Comfortable with standard business tools and CRM systems (we use HubSpot).
  • German language skills (C1+), English language skills (C1+).
  • Willingness to travel within Europe as needed (please note you will be at our Darmstadt HQ the majority of the time, this is only occasionally).

Nice to have

  • Early experience (internships, working student roles, projects) in sales engineering, technical sales support, or project coordination.
  • Exposure to industrial, cold chain, HVAC, refrigeration or related technical markets.
  • Interest in or experience with channel/distributor relationships.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
What makes this role unusual
  • You're not just supporting deals — you're helping define how an entire industry evaluates and adopts a cooling technology that doesn't exist anywhere else yet.
  • Direct exposure to founders, engineering and GTM leadership from day one, with real room to help shape how technical sales works at MAGNOTHERM.
  • Opportunities to expand your skillset, grow with the company, or develop into a more senior role.
What you will get from the job
  • Flexible hours and 30 days of vacation.
  • Compensation aligned with startup standards, with room to grow as the company scales.
  • A team that's sharp, interdisciplinary, and doesn't take itself too seriously.
  • The chance to pioneer technology that actually helps the planet.
  • Ownership, responsibility, and a culture where learning from mistakes is expected.
  • A front-row seat as a deep-tech company scales.
  • Memes. Good ones. And lots of them.

PS: We are a big fan of cover letters. They don't need to be long, but getting the general idea of who you are and what motivates you helps in the application selection. A portfolio of work you can share externally is also welcome.

About us

We believe in science; we believe in facts. Climate change is speeding up more than ever and we need to do something about it. We are convinced that we need better technologies to overcome this tremendous challenge – or more precisely: this tremendous threat to humanity. We are on a mission to decarbonize the refrigeration industry and reduce its contribution of 7% to global greenhouse gas emissions.

Support us in making our vision a reality – join us!

We are material scientists, chemists, physicists, a lot of engineers as well as product and graphic designers. We are an agile team of bright minds with diverse and international backgrounds. We love hanging out together, we argue about new technologies, politics, the best sport, and food trends. Basically, we are human.

MAGNOTHERM is an equal opportunity employer. We embrace diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees. We are open to all groups of people without regard to age, color, national origin, religion, gender, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity and/or expression, marital status, or any other legally protected characteristics.

Do I need to meet all the requirements to apply?

Studies by several different sources have shown that, on average, men will apply for a job if they meet 60% of the application requirements. In contrast, women/non-binary people will seek to match a much higher percentage of the requirements before applying.

We encourage everyone to apply and give us a chance to evaluate your skills and experience. We are all learning on the job, and although the listing above has been carefully compiled, we are also open-minded and interested to hear about the value you can bring to the role and MAGNOTHERM.

How can I demonstrate that I have particular needs in the application process?

For people living with disabilities, chronic illnesses, or neurodiversity, adjustments and support can make a decisive difference in the application process. If you need any specific accommodations (tools, time, etc.) and feel comfortable disclosing this, please let us know.
